Ceiling Tiles

So I was laying in an exam room at the hospital waiting for the results of my ultrasound. There is a lot of time to wait at the doctor’s office, and in this particular instance no cell phone to while away the time. As I’m looking up at the ceiling tiles pondering life, the universe, and everything

I suddenly remember a story about a man who was dying of cancer in a hospital bed, and he was looking up at the ceiling and plotting out his newest and greatest idea, Disney World, on the grid of ceiling tiles. He then told his brother to keep going, to build the new park in Florida, he could see it!

Look at all the people who have been inspired to move forward by Walt Disney’s creative vision. And in moving forward they did things they didn’t know they could do. My thoughts are with all the passionate, creative, amazing people we have lost to the pandemic during the last two years. What would they tell us while looking at the ceiling tiles in a hospital room? Possibly, look up, do better, appreciate your life, live in gratitude. We are so fragile, we don’t know what is around the next corner, so let’s be our best selves this day for those who left too soon. As they looked at the ceiling tiles and passed on their dreams.
