So, most people know that I believe everyone can dance. When I choreograph, I have always liked to give all levels of dancers a space to shine. I started teaching dance in my front room when I was fifteen, I took Virginia Tanner’s teacher training at sixteen, and got a minor in Dance teaching in college. My spirit will continue to dance.

One show I remember fondly is Music Man, working with teen boys that had lots of enthusiasm but not as much technique. Those guys danced until they dropped in that show, didn’t complain, and looked fantastic in the end. It didn’t hurt that they were partnered with some lovely dancing girls.
Another great memory is the kids ages nine to twelve that danced and sang in the Oompa Loompa chorus. They did a unique black light dance, and another on their scooters. I have always pushed the kids to go beyond what was easy—to sometimes chase the impossible—but always embrace excellence. I have found them always up for a challenge, and happy when they find out that they are as awesome as I thought they were.
